Steve Boyd joined Shackelford Melton McKinley & Norton in September 2017 after retiring as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Baylor Scott & White, where he served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for ten years. In addition to managing the day-to-day legal needs of Baylor Scott & White, Boyd led the legal team in the merger of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White in 2013 and was instrumental in the success of many other transactions.
Prior to joining Baylor Scott & White, Boyd served as managing partner of the Texas offices of Hunton & Williams and for twenty-six years represented regulated industries, such as electric and gas, railroads, and health care in federal and state courts and administrative venues as well as government inquiries. He is also a recognized expert in corporate governance.
Boyd is a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and the Committee for Qualified Judiciary. He currently serves on the executive Board of SMU Dedman School of Law, the national Board for Canine Companions for Independence, and the Board of Lone Star Language Academy. He is a past chair of the Salesmanship Club Youth & Family Centers and SCF Charitable Properties. He and his wife are members of Park Cities Baptist Church and Royal Oaks Country Club.
A Baptist preacher’s kid from Paris, Texas, Boyd is an avid golfer.
