Christopher W. Martin is the Founding Partner of Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom, L.L.P, an 80-lawyer trial boutique with four Texas offices. In the last 25 years he has tried more than 140 jury trials in 14 different states defending insurance bad faith or coverage claims. From 2009 to 2012, Texas Monthly named him one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Texas. For the last seven years, Chambers USA named him the Top Insurance Attorney in Texas. He is the author of three legal treatises on Texas Insurance Law and more than 100 articles and published papers. He served as the Professor of Insurance Law at the University of Houston Law School for ten years. He currently co-teaches insurance law in the LLM program at the Baylor Law School.
Three times over the past decade, he was named one of the top five “Go To” Insurance Lawyers in Texas by The Texas Lawyer. From 2004 to 2020, Texas Monthly magazine named him a Texas’ “Super Lawyer.” The International Who’s Who of Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers named him as one of the leading insurance and reinsurance experts in the United States for the past twelve years. He is Board Certified in Consumer Law, the field covering insurance law, by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Coverage Counsel.
As a lawyer, he represents parties in civil litigation and appeals involving bad faith allegations, insurance claims and coverage disputes in state and federal courts across the nation. He frequently serves as a mediator of complex insurance claims and insurance lawsuits. He is also retained regularly to serve as an expert witness in insurance disputes. Mr. Martin is licensed to appear before the United States Supreme Court, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, all U.S. District Courts in Texas and Oklahoma, and all Texas and Oklahoma state courts.
